Code of Conduct
for Players

1. Purpose

This Code of Conduct defines the standards of behavior expected from all badminton players participating in RBSF activities, competitions, and programs. It promotes respect, fair play, discipline, and integrity in badminton.

2. Respect and Fair Play

Players must:

  • Respect opponents, teammates, coaches, officials, and spectators
  • Play according to the official rules of badminton
  • Accept decisions of umpires and line judges without protest or disrespect
  • Shake hands with opponents and officials before and after matches
  • Avoid any form of cheating, including deliberate distraction or unfair advantage

3. On-Court Conduct

Players are expected to:

  • Maintain self-control at all times during matches and training
  • Not throw rackets, shuttlecocks, or any equipment in anger
  • Not use abusive language, gestures, or disrespectful behavior
  • Be punctual and ready to play when called
  • Wear appropriate badminton attire in line with competition regulations

4. Integrity and Ethics

Players must:

  • Uphold the integrity of badminton at all times
  • Not engage in doping, in accordance with international anti-doping regulations
  • Not participate in betting, match-fixing, or manipulation of results
  • Act honestly and fairly in all competitions

5. Health and Safety

Players should:

  • Take responsibility for their fitness and well-being
  • Report injuries and not endanger themselves or others
  • Respect medical advice and competition health protocols

6. Inclusion and Respect for Diversity

Players must:

  • Treat all individuals with dignity and respect
  • Promote gender equality and inclusion in badminton
  • Reject all forms of discrimination, harassment, or bullying

7. Social Media and Public Behavior

Players are expected to:

  • Represent RBSF and badminton positively in public and online
  • Avoid posting offensive, abusive, or misleading content
  • Respect confidentiality and the image of teammates, officials, and the federation

8. Team and Federation Responsibilities

Players must:

  • Follow instructions from coaches, team managers, and officials
  • Respect team rules, schedules, and commitments
  • Protect federation property and equipment
  • Act as ambassadors of RBSF and Rwanda in all events

9. Compliance and Discipline

  • All players must comply with RBSF regulations and competition rules
  • Violations of this Code will result in disciplinary action

10. Disciplinary Measures

Breaches of this Code may result in:

  • Verbal or written warning
  • Suspension from training or competitions
  • Disqualification from events
  • Expulsion from the team or federation activities
